The staff of the city block-sized main store shelves new and used books next to each other, so be sure to browse through their online catalog and walk the aisles...you might just find a bargain. Powell's Technical Books is, to my mind, the best technical-only bookstore in the United States, beating out Reiter's Books (NW 20th and K, Washington, DC) in a very close race. If you're a computer programmer, computer user, mathematician, physicist, forensic scientist, architect, egghead, nerd, or geek, you can find books to further your knowledge in your chosen field. Voodoo Doughnuts takes doughnut making to the level of performance art. Their irreverent site pokes fun at themselves and their menu sports a voodoo doll doughnut packed with strawberry filling. |
